The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, has confirmed that no life was lost and no one sustained injury when a 40-foot container truck hit six other vehicles at Kara Bridge, inward OPIC, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Tuesday morning.
According to a statement by the agency, the container truck, which had no registration number, reportedly developed a mechanical fault while in motion, lost control and rammed into the other vehicles.
LASEMA said seven vehicles were involved in the crash, adding that its LRT Tiger Squad, stationed at C3, responded alongside the police, who moved quickly to manage the scene and prevent another accident.
The agency added that the damaged vehicles were cleared from the road and traffic flow was restored immediately.
The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, commended the emergency responders for their prompt action, which he said helped prevent casualties and clear the road quickly.
He urged motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to properly maintain their vehicles, observe roadworthiness requirements and exercise caution on major highways.
