Gunmen Abduct Adelabu’s Sister

The family of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has confirmed the abduction of his younger sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons by armed gunmen in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to a statement issued by the family on Wednesday, the victims were kidnapped around 7:30 a.m. while Mrs. John-Paul was taking her children, Peter and Paul, to school.

The 43-year-old, described as the youngest of five children of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu, was reportedly intercepted and taken away alongside her sons by the assailants.

Before retiring voluntarily last year, Mrs. John-Paul had worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria and later at First Bank Pension Custodian. She had recently relocated to Ibadan with her children while preparing to join her husband, Mr. John Paul, who resides in the United States.

The family said security agencies were immediately alerted after the incident and have since launched investigations and rescue operations aimed at securing the release of the victims and tracking down those responsible.

Expressing deep concern over the development, Adelabu and other family members said they remain hopeful that security operatives will ensure the safe return of Mrs. John-Paul and her children.

The family appealed to the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and support ongoing security efforts. They also called on anyone with useful information to assist investigators by reporting through appropriate channels.

The family pledged full cooperation with security authorities and said updates would be provided as the situation develops.
