The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt has upheld the judgment of the Rivers State High Court nullifying the congresses that produced the Tony Okocha-led executive of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

The appellate court, in a ruling delivered on Friday by Justice Elfreida Oluwayemisi Williams-Dawodu, affirmed the earlier decision of Justice Obomanu of the Rivers State High Court, who on December 20, 2024 declared the APC congresses in the state invalid.

Tony Okocha and members of the dissolved executive had approached the Court of Appeal in Suit No. CA/PH/523/2024 seeking to overturn the High Court judgment.

However, the Appeal Court dismissed their appeal and sustained the nullification of the congresses that brought the executive into office.

The ruling effectively confirms the removal of the Okocha-led APC executive in Rivers State and raises questions over actions and official communications issued by the dissolved leadership since December 20, 2024.
