Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has urged Nigerians to remain patriotic and uphold the founding values of the nation as the country marks its 66th Independence anniversary.
Fubara made the call on Friday during a special Juma’at service held at the Rivers State Central Mosque, Port Harcourt, to commemorate the independence anniversary.
Represented by the Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Muslim Pilgrims Board, Alhaji Abdurrazaq Cline Diepriye, the governor stressed the need for peace, unity and loyalty to the country.
He called on citizens to promote values that would strengthen national cohesion and contribute to the development and progress of Nigeria.
The Juma’at service formed part of activities organised in Rivers State to mark the 66th Independence anniversary.
An inter-denominational church thanksgiving service is also scheduled for Sunday, September 27, at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Diobu, Port Harcourt, as part of the anniversary activities.
