A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has fixed September 21 for mention in a suit seeking to disqualify President Bola Tinubu from contesting the 2027 presidential election over allegations of certificate forgery.
The suit was filed by the Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy (CFRPA), which is asking the court to declare the President ineligible to participate in the next presidential election.
The group alleged that Tinubu submitted forged academic credentials from Chicago State University as well as a fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 2023 presidential election.
According to court records, all parties in the case have filed the necessary processes ahead of the scheduled mention date.
The suit, marked FHC/K/CS/312/2026, lists President Tinubu, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Chicago State University as defendants.
The court is expected to commence proceedings on the matter when the case comes up on September 21.
