PSC Deploys New Police Commissioners to Eight States

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the deployment of eight new Commissioners of Police to various state commands and appointed a new Commandant for the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, as part of efforts to strengthen policing and improve operational effectiveness across the country.

The commission announced the appointments in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesman, Torty Njoku, saying the postings followed the recent promotion of some senior police officers.

According to the statement, CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo, formerly Commissioner of Police, Administration, Training and Development, has been posted to Abia State.

CP Ayodeji Faniyan, who previously served as Commissioner of Police, Administration, Police Cooperative, Lagos, has been deployed to Plateau State, while CP Saka Adewale Ajao, formerly of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Gombe, has been posted to Bayelsa State.

The PSC also approved the posting of CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, formerly Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL Abuja, to Cross River State, and CP Nnanna Oji Ama, formerly Commissioner of Police, Intelligence, to Anambra State.

Similarly, CP Patrick Daaor, formerly Commissioner of Police, Administration, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja, has been posted to Edo State, while CP Tijani Murtala and CP Samuel Erale Etaifo were deployed to Jigawa and Delta states respectively.

In addition, the commission appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.

The PSC noted that AIG Mohammed brings over 33 years of policing experience spanning operations, criminal investigations, intelligence-led policing and police training. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master's degree in Public Policy from Bayero University.

His previous appointments include Commandant of the Police College, Maiduguri, Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zones 3 and 6. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Addressing the newly deployed officers, PSC Board Member and Commissioner, retired Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, who presided over the session, urged them to uphold the rule of law, remain politically neutral and discharge their responsibilities with professionalism and integrity.

The meeting was attended by other members of the commission, including Alhaji Abdulfatah Mohammed, retired Justice Christine Ladi Dabup, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani and the Secretary to the Commission.
