President Bola Tinubu has nominated six persons for appointments as executive directors of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), subject to Senate confirmation.

The nominees comprise three returning executive directors and three new appointees, who are expected to serve five-year terms upon confirmation.

The nominations were conveyed to the Senate in a letter dated October 30, 2026, with the President urging the lawmakers to expedite consideration of the appointments.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the three reappointed nominees are Abiodun Adeniji, Executive Director, Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Ukoha, Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community.

The three new nominees are Mobolaji Musa, for Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie, for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib, for Corporate Services and Administration.

Tinubu said the nominations were aimed at ensuring institutional continuity and strengthening the authority’s regulatory and oversight capacity.

The statement added that the President had also approved the appointment of Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board and Legal Adviser.

Her appointment, however, is subject to the completion of statutory processes prescribed under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.

The latest nominations come months after Tinubu appointed Rabiu Umar as Chief Executive of the NMDPRA in April.
