Eight Zamfara State lawmakers who resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) a few weeks ago have resolved to return to the ruling party following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

The lawmakers met with the President on Sunday night in a move aimed at addressing their grievances and securing their support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general election.

They were led to the meeting by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, alongside a member of the House of Representatives, Aminu Sani Jaji.

The development comes amid reports that the lawmakers were considering joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after leaving the APC.

However, following the meeting with Tinubu, they reportedly agreed to return to the ruling party, while efforts are underway to resolve the issues that prompted their earlier resignation.

Their return is expected to strengthen the APC's political position in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 elections.

The lawmakers are Aliyu Ango Kagara, representing Talata Mafara South; Ibrahim Tukur Bakura, Bakura; Faruk Musa Dosara, Maradun I; Bashir Abubakar Masama, Bukkuyum North; Muktaru Nasiru Kaura, Kaura North; Nasiru Abdullahi, Maru North; Bashar Bello, Bungudu West; and Bashar Aliyu, Gummi I.

Further details on the resolution of their grievances were not immediately available.
