Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru has stirred public interest after introducing herself by her maiden surname during plenary, omitting the surname of her celebrity husband, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, the lawmaker identified herself as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru” while addressing colleagues at the Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday.
Her nameplate also displayed the Osawaru surname, without the Idibia name.
Osawaru, who represents Egor Constituency and serves as the assembly’s minority leader, was speaking in support of a bill seeking to strengthen emergency response in the state.
She described the proposed legislation as timely, arguing that Edo lacked a strong, legally backed agency capable of responding proactively to emergencies.
The development has attracted attention because, in April 2025, she included Idibia in her introduction during an assembly plenary, describing herself as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osaworu, née Idibia.”
The latest incident has fuelled public speculation about the couple’s relationship, although her use of the Osawaru surname does not, in itself, establish any marital disagreement.
Interest in their relationship has intensified following Natasha’s absence from 2Baba’s 51st birthday celebration and album listening party in Lagos. The event was attended by members of the singer’s family and several entertainment personalities.
The couple also attracted attention in August after a video circulated online, purportedly showing them engaged in a heated exchange at an Abuja nightclub.
Natasha married 2Baba in July 2025, following the singer’s separation from his former wife, Annie Macaulay Idibia. The couple held a dedication ceremony for their first child together in February.
Further speculation followed reports that 2Baba and Annie began following each other on Instagram in August, while the singer and Natasha reportedly stopped following each other on the platform.
Neither the surname change during plenary nor the reported social media developments independently confirm a change in the couple’s marital status.
