Former Imo State Governor and ex-Senator, Rochas Anayo Okorocha, has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
Reports said Okorocha was arrested on Monday night, October 12, 2026, at REIZ Continental Hotel in central Abuja.
His reported arrest followed an ongoing police investigation into the allegations, with sources indicating that a bench warrant had been obtained after he allegedly failed to honour repeated invitations by the police.
According to the reports, the former governor was initially invited to appear at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on September 2, 2026.
However, the appointment was rescheduled to September 8 following a request by his lawyers, but Okorocha reportedly failed to honour the rescheduled invitation.
The police were subsequently said to have secured a bench warrant to facilitate his arrest.
The allegations against Okorocha centre on suspected criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation, although details of the alleged offences and the circumstances surrounding them were not provided in the available report.
As of the time of this report, there was no official statement from the police or Okorocha's representatives confirming the reported arrest or providing further details about the investigation.
The allegations remain unproven, and Okorocha is presumed innocent unless established otherwise by a court of law.
