Notorious bandit kingpin, Kachalla Mu’azu, and six members of his gang have reportedly been killed in a clash between rival armed groups in Zamfara State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, around Mada in Gusau Local Government Area.

Mu’azu and his associates were reportedly returning from Yankara Market when they were ambushed by members of a rival armed group who had positioned themselves along their route.

A fierce confrontation reportedly followed, resulting in the death of Mu’azu and six other members of his gang.

Mu’azu was described as a prominent bandit commander allegedly involved in criminal activities and attacks targeting communities in Gusau and other parts of Zamfara State, as well as neighbouring areas of Katsina State.

His death could have implications for the activities of armed groups operating around the Gusau axis, although it remains uncertain whether the development will result in any immediate improvement in the security situation.

Security agencies are expected to intensify surveillance in the area and establish further details concerning the rival groups involved in the clash.

The identities of the six other bandits reportedly killed alongside Mu’azu were not immediately disclosed.

Mada is located in the eastern part of Gusau Local Government Area, about 32 kilometres from Gusau town, while Yankara lies along the Gusau-Funtua axis.
