Troops of Sector 7, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have intervened to prevent a political disturbance in Kafanchan Township, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on October 5, following a report of a political disturbance in the area, security sources said.
On arrival, the troops reportedly found supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) burning brooms, the symbol of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside APC campaign posters.
A Keystone security response team had earlier moved to the scene, but the situation reportedly escalated, prompting the troops to intervene and prevent further tension.
The troops dispersed the crowd, stopped the burning of the party symbols and cordoned off the area.
The situation was subsequently brought under control, while security personnel remained at the scene to prevent a resurgence of the disturbance.
