An alleged affair between married gym instructor Dennis Emmanuel and social media feminist Folakemi Martins has sparked a public dispute, with both parties giving conflicting accounts of how their relationship began and ended.
The controversy erupted after Emmanuel accused Martins of harassment, stalking and attempts to damage his reputation, marriage and family.
In a lengthy post on X, Emmanuel admitted having a sexual relationship with Martins, but claimed she continued contacting him after he decided to end the affair.
According to Emmanuel, the relationship began on May 9, 2026, after he told Martins that he was married and was seeking a casual relationship.
He shared screenshots of alleged conversations between them, which he said showed that Martins knew about his marital status and agreed to the arrangement.
Emmanuel alleged that Martins later became increasingly demanding and persistent, accusing her of seeking a relationship beyond their initial arrangement.
Some of the screenshots he shared contained intimate conversations in which Martins allegedly requested to meet him for sex and complained about a lack of affection and communication.
In one alleged exchange, Martins reportedly questioned Emmanuel over why he withdrew after she asked him about marriage.
She also allegedly complained that she had to repeatedly ask for intimacy, video calls, meetings and affection.
Emmanuel claimed that even after he ended the relationship, Martins continued contacting him and allegedly involved friends in attempts to reach him and his wife.
He said the situation eventually affected his home and reputation, prompting him to make the allegations public.
“What happened over the past few weeks has gone beyond a personal disagreement. It is now affecting my reputation, my home, my wife and my family and I believe I need to put my side of the story on record,” he wrote.
Martins, however, rejected key aspects of Emmanuel’s account, saying she never agreed to be his “side chick” and was unaware that he was married when their relationship began.
“I’m currently working on enough proof and doing everything legally. I know everyone has been trying to get my side, but little proof has been out on X,” she said.
Martins added that she was gathering evidence and pursuing the matter through legal channels.
“I never agreed to be a side chick and was never aware of any marriage,” she said.
She declined to provide further details, saying her full account would be presented when permitted by the court.
The dispute has since generated widespread reactions on X, with users offering differing views on the allegations and Emmanuel’s decision to make the private dispute public.
Some users criticised Emmanuel for engaging in an extramarital relationship and argued that his decision had exposed his wife and family to public embarrassment.
Others focused on the allegations against Martins and the claims of continued contact after Emmanuel said he had ended the relationship.
The allegations made by both parties have not been independently established, while Martins’ claim that she was unaware of Emmanuel’s marriage also remains disputed by his account.
