Lagos Police Identify Inspector in Viral Video

The Lagos State Police Command has identified the police inspector featured in a viral video making inappropriate remarks while travelling in a public transport.

The officer was identified as Inspector Osumah Frank, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola AdebisI.

The Command said it had commenced appropriate disciplinary action against the officer in line with established regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.

It clarified that the statements made by the inspector were made in his personal capacity and did not represent the position, views or official disposition of the Lagos State Police Command or the Nigeria Police Force.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reiterated that police personnel are expected to maintain professionalism, civility, discipline and respect for members of the public at all times.

He stressed that wearing the police uniform carries the responsibility to uphold the dignity and integrity of the Force.

The Commissioner said the Command would not condone conduct capable of bringing the police into disrepute or undermining public confidence in the Force.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and policing with humility and integrity.
