The Super Eagles have commenced full training ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifying campaign.
Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and winger Samuel Chukwueze joined the squad on Tuesday, bringing the number of players in camp to 23.
Super Eagles media officer, Promise Efoghe, confirmed that the trio arrived ahead of the team’s first full training session.
The other 20 players had earlier reported to the team’s camp in Ikot Ikpene, Akwa Ibom, as preparations intensified for the qualifiers.
The session, led by head coach Eric Chelle, began with warm-up exercises before the players moved into ball work and tactical drills.
Chelle also worked on positioning, passing patterns and movement, while the technical crew monitored the players’ intensity and execution.
According to Efoghe, the session was designed to improve the players’ combinations and introduce the tactical approach for the upcoming matches.
All 23 players participated in the two-hour session, which began at 6 p.m. and ended at 8 p.m. at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
The first 15 minutes were open to accredited media before the coaching crew continued with the session behind closed doors.
Nigeria will open its AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign against Madagascar in Uyo on September 25 before travelling to face Guinea-Bissau on September 29.
The Super Eagles are also scheduled to play Russia in an international friendly on October 6.
Efoghe said all 23 players would be available for media interviews on Wednesday at the team’s base in Ikot Ikpene, with the exact time to be announced later.
