Arteta Agrees New Arsenal Contract

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has agreed a new improved contract with the Premier League champions, extending his stay at the club beyond the current season.

Arteta’s existing deal is due to expire at the end of the campaign, but negotiations over an extension have been ongoing for several months.

The new agreement, which is yet to be formally announced by the club, is expected to keep the Spanish manager at Arsenal into at least his 10th year since he was appointed in December 2019.

Arteta is also set for a significant increase on his current £10 million annual salary, with the new package reportedly including an additional £5 million in bonuses.

The 42-year-old had earlier indicated that Arsenal supporters had no reason to be concerned about his future, saying he was happy at the club and wanted to remain in charge.

Arteta has overseen Arsenal’s emergence as a major force in English and European football since taking charge, culminating in the club winning their first Premier League title in 20 years last season.

The Gunners also came close to winning their first Champions League title, a setback that has reportedly strengthened their determination to compete for major honours again.

With his new contract agreed, Arteta will continue leading Arsenal as the club seeks to build on its recent success and challenge for more domestic and European trophies.
