Plateau Imposes Curfew on 3 LGAs

The Plateau State Government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas following emerging security concerns in the affected communities.

The directive, which took effect on Monday, September 21, 2026, restricts movement across the three LGAs from 6pm to 6am until further notice.

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, announced the measure in a statement, saying it was intended to maintain public order, protect lives and prevent further deterioration of the security situation.

Ramnap said Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration had also directed security agencies to intensify operations in the affected areas to restore stability. She added that the use of motorcycles had been banned across the three local government areas with immediate effect.

The commissioner urged residents to comply with the curfew and organise their commercial, agricultural and personal activities around the restricted hours. She assured law-abiding residents that security personnel deployed to enforce the measures would operate professionally and called for cooperation with the authorities.
