The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has adjusted the reporting and examination times for candidates sitting the first session of the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Under the new arrangement, candidates for the first session are expected to arrive at their designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres by 7:30am, instead of the previously scheduled 6:30am.
The examination will commence at 8:30am and end at 10:30am.
JAMB announced the adjustment in its weekly bulletin released in Abuja, citing safety and logistical concerns associated with candidates travelling to examination centres in the early hours.
The board said the previous reporting time was particularly challenging for candidates travelling long distances, as some would have had to leave their homes before dawn to arrive at their centres by 6:30am.
According to JAMB, the decision followed deliberations at its 2026 Management and Information Technology Retreat held in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, from September 6 to 11.
The retreat considered concerns raised by members of the public about the safety and convenience of candidates required to travel during the early hours of the morning.
JAMB said shifting the reporting time to 7:30am would provide candidates with more convenient travel conditions and could help reduce absenteeism linked to difficulties associated with early-morning journeys.
The board advised candidates scheduled for the first session to take note of the revised arrival and examination times ahead of the 2027 UTME.
