American music icon Lionel Richie has been hospitalised after experiencing a health scare during a live performance in St. Louis, Missouri.
According to US media reports, the 77-year-old singer checked himself into a local hospital after appearing to struggle toward the end of his concert at Forest Park on Saturday night.
Videos from the event showed Richie requesting a chair before performing his final song, All Night Long. Despite remaining cheerful throughout the performance, reports said he opted to seek medical attention as a precaution.
Entertainment outlet TMZ reported that Richie was admitted to intensive care for tests, with sources indicating doctors were investigating possible mild dehydration. He is expected to be discharged once medical evaluations are completed.
ABC News also reported that the Grammy-winning singer sought treatment “out of an abundance of caution.”
The latest incident comes just months after Richie was rushed to hospital during the opening show of his Earth, Wind & Fire tour in St. Paul, Minnesota, after telling fans he felt \"dizzy\" and \"strange\" on stage. That concert was cut short, and he later postponed two performances on medical advice before returning to the stage.
Richie\'s North American tour began in January and concluded in August.
