Factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Kabiru Turaki (SAN), has been flown to Turkey for medical treatment after developing an undisclosed health condition.
A source close to the former Minister of Special Duties said Turaki initially received medical care in Abuja before doctors recommended that he be taken abroad for further treatment.
According to the source, the senior lawyer was admitted to a hospital in Turkey, where he is currently receiving specialised medical attention.
The source added that reports from Turkey indicate Turaki is responding positively to treatment and that his condition is stable.
βHe was flown to Turkey and admitted to a Turkish hospital for further medical attention. We have been informed that he is responding well to treatment and is not in danger,β the source said.
When asked about the nature of the illness, the source said he could not provide details but suggested that Turaki had been under intense pressure amid the prolonged leadership crisis within the PDP.
The source also alleged that the crisis, which has deepened divisions within the opposition party, was influenced by political developments involving rival factions, including one aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
