The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspected members of a notorious armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate operating in Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recovering two vehicles believed to have been stolen during the gang\'s operations.
The arrests were made by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) during coordinated intelligence-led operations carried out between August 14 and 19, 2026, across Kaduna State and Abuja.
The suspects were identified as Ahmed Saidu, alias Diamond M, Alex Gabriel, alias Junior M, and Ahmed Mahudu, also known as Diamond M. Police said they were linked to a series of armed robberies in which vehicles were forcefully taken from their owners at gunpoint.
According to the police, the suspects confessed during interrogation and identified one Yakubu Yewa, popularly known as Y/Come, as the leader of the criminal syndicate.
Investigations revealed that Yewa is currently standing trial for armed robbery while being held at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
Police further disclosed that the alleged kingpin coordinated the gang\'s operations from custody, directing members on robbery missions and arranging the sale of stolen vehicles within Nigeria and across international borders.
During the operation, detectives recovered a red Toyota Corolla and an army-coloured Volkswagen Golf 3, both believed to be proceeds of the syndicate\'s criminal activities.
The Force said investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the gang and recover additional stolen vehicles.
Reaffirming its resolve to combat violent crime, the Nigeria Police Force assured Nigerians that it would continue intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks, protecting lives and property, and bringing offenders to justice.
