Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state to serve with patriotism, integrity and selflessness by leaving enduring legacies in their host communities.

The governor gave the charge on Thursday at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch B Stream II Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Nonwa/Gbam, Tai Local Government Area.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Promise Oguzie, Fubara reminded the corps members that they owed Nigerians the responsibility of serving with commitment and dedication to help build a nation that reflects the collective aspirations of its citizens.

He encouraged them to make meaningful contributions to their places of primary assignment and positively impact the lives of people in their host communities throughout the service year.

The governor also assured the corps members that his administration would continue to prioritise their welfare and security, creating a conducive environment for them to carry out their national assignment.

In his farewell address, the NYSC State Coordinator in Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe, advised the corps members to take advantage of the service year to develop new skills and acquire valuable experiences that would shape their future careers and personal growth.

According to him, the service year provides a unique opportunity for self-development, community engagement and nation-building.

A total of 3,344 corps members comprising 1,357 males and 1,987 females successfully completed the orientation course and have been deployed to various places of primary assignment across Rivers State.
