Inmate Escapes From Maiduguri Maximum Security Prison

The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) in Borno State has confirmed the escape of an inmate from the Maximum Security Custodial Centre in Maiduguri.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the command's Public Relations Officer, A.B. Thliza, identified the fugitive as John Isearl, whose name appears on the prison uniform released alongside the notice.

The Correctional Service appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information that could lead to the arrest of the escapee or anyone suspected to be him.

According to the statement, anyone with credible information should report immediately to the nearest police station, Nigeria Correctional Service facility or any other security agency.

The command also provided emergency contact numbers for members of the public to relay information on the fugitive's whereabouts.

Thliza, however, warned residents against attempting to arrest or confront the escapee, urging them instead to allow security agencies to handle the situation.

He stressed that public cooperation is vital to ensuring the fugitive's recapture and maintaining public safety.
