Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to United States President Donald Trump to pay attention to the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, citing concerns over possible violence and disruption of the electoral process.

Davido, whose uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election in the August 15, 2026 poll, made the appeal in a social media post addressed to Trump.

The singer urged the US President and the international community to encourage Nigerian authorities to protect voters and ensure that their votes are respected.

“President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election,” Davido wrote.

He expressed concern over what he described as growing tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation and disruption of the democratic process.

According to him, residents of Osun State should be allowed to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely and peacefully without fear.

“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” he added.

Davido had previously stated that he would directly seek Trump’s attention if he became dissatisfied with the conduct of the election.

The singer said he would tag the US President on social media and, if necessary, take his concerns to the White House.

“I’ll tag Trump, I’ll call Trump, everybody. If they still don’t see anything, I’ll go in front of the White House and say, ‘Help us,’” he said.

Davido maintained that his comments were serious and expressed confidence that his concerns would reach the US President.

He also appealed to political actors and other stakeholders to allow the people of Osun State to freely choose their next governor.

“Leave Osun alone, oo, leave it,” he said.
