Military Declares N60m Bounty on Two ISWAP Commanders

The Nigerian military has placed a combined bounty of N60 million on two senior commanders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) as security forces intensify efforts to dismantle the terrorist group\\\'s leadership in the North-East.

The Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, announced the reward in a statement on Wednesday, saying the military would pay anyone whose credible and actionable intelligence leads directly to the arrest of the wanted terrorists.

According to the military, a reward of N10 million has been placed on Muhammad Jidda, Commander of the ISWAP Jaish Unit, while IBN Muhammad, Commander of the ISWAP Amniyya Unit, carries a N50 million bounty.

The announcement followed recent successful offensive operations by troops of Operation Hadin Kai against ISWAP/ISIS strongholds in the Lake Chad region of northern Borno State.

Captain Goni said the operations resulted in the recovery of high-value intelligence materials, including a camcorder allegedly used by terrorists to record propaganda videos and document operational activities.

He explained that forensic analysis of the recovered devices generated actionable intelligence, leading to the identification of terrorist locations and several senior ISWAP commanders operating within the Mangari–Metele–Dogon Chukun axis along the fringes of the Lake Chad Basin in Abadam and Kukawa Local Government Areas of Borno State.

Among the identified terrorist leaders are Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, the Wali (Governor) of ISWAP, his deputy and Amirul Jaish, Muhammad Jidda, also known as \\\"The One-Handed Man,\\\" and Hamad Abu Hanifa, the group\\\'s Amirul-Fiya.

The military described Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa as the most wanted ISWAP leader operating in the Lake Chad Basin and urged members of the public to provide useful information that could facilitate his arrest.

Captain Goni assured Nigerians that all information supplied would be handled with strict confidentiality and that the identities of informants would be fully protected under established security procedures.

He appealed to citizens to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations by reporting credible information through recognised security channels, while warning the public against attempting to confront or arrest any of the wanted terrorist suspects.
