A court in Kuwait has sentenced two Nigerian nationals to seven years' imprisonment after finding them guilty of carrying out an armed robbery at a money exchange office in Mahboula, in the country's southern district.
The judgment was delivered on Monday by a court presided over by Counsellor Nasr Salem Al-Haid, following the conclusion of criminal proceedings against the defendants.
According to court records, the pair were convicted of stealing cash and other valuables during the robbery at the exchange facility.
The suspects were arrested by the Kuwait General Department of Criminal Investigation in the Ahmadi Governorate after investigations into the incident, which occurred in January last year.
Investigators relied on surveillance footage that reportedly showed one of the suspects, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, alighting from a white vehicle before entering the exchange office.
The video also allegedly captured the suspect brandishing a firearm and threatening employees while the robbery was being carried out.
The conviction brings to a close the criminal case, with the court imposing a seven-year prison term on each of the two Nigerians for their roles in the robbery.
