The controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Fiscal and Infrastructure Projects Council (PFIPC) took a fresh twist on Monday as human rights lawyer Femi Falana alleged that police operatives arrested the father of Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, the key figure in the ongoing forgery investigation linked to the purported council.

According to Falana, officers stormed the family's residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and took Adeniyi's father into custody alongside a family friend who had visited the home. He questioned the legality of the action, arguing that there was no basis for what he described as a substituted arrest.

Falana maintained that Adeniyi had already undertaken to appear before the court, insisting that arresting his father was unjustified. He urged law enforcement authorities to respect the rule of law and allow the judicial process to run its course.

Residents of the neighbourhood also claimed that several police vehicles arrived at the residence before the elderly man was taken away. They further alleged that Adeniyi's mother was left traumatised by the incident, although those claims could not be independently verified.

As of the time of filing this report, the police had not issued an official statement confirming or denying the alleged operation. The reported arrests come amid ongoing investigations into allegations of forgery, impersonation and related offences arising from the controversial PFIPC.

The PFIPC controversy has continued to attract national attention following claims that the council was never lawfully constituted despite allegedly operating under the Presidency. Falana has repeatedly insisted that all issues arising from the matter should be resolved through the courts, warning against any action that could undermine due process while the case remains before the judiciary.
