Ex-APC Chairman Dies in Bandits’ Captivity in Kebbi

A former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Koko Besse Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Alhaji Muhammadu Besse, has died while in the custody of bandits.

He was abducted in early June alongside his friend, Muhammed Maibarga, an Islamic cleric of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah wa Ikamatis-Sunnah (JIBWIS).

Maibarga reportedly died in captivity about three weeks earlier, while Besse was confirmed dead later in the bandits’ den. Before their deaths, a disturbing video had circulated showing both men being tortured and humiliated inside a forest hideout.

The incident has heightened concerns over insecurity and kidnapping in parts of Kebbi State, where armed groups continue to operate despite ongoing security operations.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, said the police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the former APC chairman.
