The Senate has said it will examine allegations raised by Senator Adams Oshiomhole over claims of signature forgery in the report that led to the six-month suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, disclosed this in an interview with The Cable, noting that the upper chamber would take a careful look at statements made by any senator regarding the matter.
Oshiomhole had alleged that the names of at least three lawmakers were included in the committee report without their consent or signatures, suggesting possible irregularities in the document recommending Natashaβs suspension.
Reacting, Adaramodu said the Senate would review such claims but insisted that no senator had officially reported any case of forged signature linked to the controversial report. He maintained that the suspension issue was openly debated and decided on the floor of the Senate.
He further argued that senators are independent-minded and capable of raising objections directly if their names were wrongly used, adding that no such complaint had been formally presented.
The Senate spokesperson also dismissed the allegation as unusual, stressing that the chamber operates under established rules and transparency in handling disciplinary matters.
