Dangote Refinery Slashes Petrol Price to ₦1

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in its petrol gantry price to ₦1,175 per litre, marking a fresh adjustment in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market.

The refinery disclosed the new pricing in a circular to fuel marketers on Monday, attributing the decision to the easing of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which had previously driven up global energy costs.

According to the circular, the premium motor spirit (PMS) gantry price has been reduced from ₦1,250 per litre to ₦1,175 per litre, while the coastal price per metric tonne dropped from ₦1,595,790 to ₦1,495,215.

The new pricing regime is scheduled to take effect from midnight, with the refinery directing that all outstanding but unlifted gantry volumes be repriced accordingly from 12:00 a.m. on June 16, 2026.

Market data indicated that Dangote Refinery had become one of the most competitive suppliers in the domestic fuel market, with retail prices previously averaging around ₦1,240 per litre in some depots.

The price adjustment follows a decline in global crude oil prices, triggered by reports of de-escalation in Middle East tensions and renewed diplomatic engagements over strategic oil transit routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.
