Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing recent developments within the party in Delta State.

Senator Omo Agege's resignation letter

His resignation was contained in a letter dated May 22 and addressed to the Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The development was disclosed on Wednesday in Asaba by his media aide, Mr. Sunday Areh.

Omo-Agege, who recently lost the APC senatorial primary for Delta Central to Ede Dafinone, said his decision followed extensive consultations with political associates and supporters.

According to him, remaining in the APC would no longer allow him to effectively pursue the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and the country.

โ€œI will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta and Nigeria,โ€ he reportedly stated.

The former lawmaker appreciated the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate and requested that his name be removed from all party records and communication platforms.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to the development and representation of Delta Central, noting that he would continue his political activities outside the APC.

Reports indicate that Omo-Agege is considering joining the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
