Osoba Warns of Southern Plot Against Tinubu Ahead of 2027

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Olusegun Osoba, has alleged that there is a coordinated political alliance in Southern Nigeria aimed at weakening President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Osoba, a former governor of Ogun State and veteran journalist, claimed that the alleged alliance plans to present multiple presidential candidates from the South in a bid to split votes that would ordinarily favour Tinubu.

He spoke at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta during the announcement of the results of the APC presidential primaries in Ogun State.

In the exercise conducted across the 20 local government areas of the state, Tinubu secured 322,485 votes to emerge victorious, while his opponent, Stanley Osifo, polled zero votes.

The results were announced by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who served as the state coordinator and collation officer for the primaries.

Also present at the event were Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare Dr. Iziak Salako, APC governorship candidate Senator Solomon Adeola, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, Ogun APC Chairman Yemi Sanusi, alongside other party leaders.

Addressing party supporters before the declaration of results, Osoba cautioned APC members against complacency, insisting that Tinubu still faces formidable opposition ahead of the next general election.

According to him, the growing political activities of Peter Obi, Seyi Makinde and former President Goodluck Jonathan suggest attempts to fragment Southern votes in the coming election.

He urged party members and supporters to remain vigilant and mobilise massive support for Tinubu during the 2027 polls.

Osoba also commended the Tinubu administration for what he described as developmental projects executed in Ogun State, appealing to residents to reciprocate the President’s support by backing his re-election bid.
