Otti made the declaration on Monday while receiving former Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, Jasper Uche, who recently defected to the Labour Party along with his supporters.

The governor said he was encouraged by Uche’s decision to join the Labour Party, noting that the move reflected growing confidence in his administration’s achievements and vision for the state.

He assured the new entrants that his government remains steadfast despite past political challenges, stressing that resilience has been key to his leadership journey.

“We will not give up. We will not be distracted. We have a mission, and until that mission is completed, we won’t stop,” Otti said, adding that divine providence continues to guide his administration’s direction.

The governor also emphasised inclusiveness, stating that the Labour Party remains open to accommodating new members irrespective of their political backgrounds, describing the Igbo spirit as one rooted in hospitality and unity.

He directed the Commissioner for Lands, Chaka Chukwumerije, to coordinate a formal reception and integration of Uche and his supporters into the party structure in Umunneochi Local Government Area.

Earlier, Uche said his defection was driven by his conviction in Otti’s “visible, verifiable and people-centred achievements” across the state, pledging the support of his political structure, the Ihe Abia Organisation, to the governor’s re-election bid in 2027.

He assured the governor that his supporters would work alongside other stakeholders to strengthen the party’s grassroots base, particularly in Umunneochi, where he promised a significant increase in voter turnout.

“We are here to complement ongoing efforts and ensure that your good work continues beyond 2027,” Uche stated, adding that his team comprises committed grassroots mobilisers.

The former PDP chieftain also disclosed that he had earlier informed the governor of his intention to defect, stressing that politics requires collective effort rather than individual action.

He commended Otti’s leadership style and developmental strides, expressing pride in the administration’s performance so far.

Top government officials, including Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, attended the meeting alongside members of the Ihe Abia Organisation, signalling growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
