A bomb exploded early Monday in Woro, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, sparking fears of casualties as authorities continue assessing the scene. Details on the number of victims remain unclear.

The attack comes just weeks after deadly incidents in nearby communities, which prompted Vice President Kashim Shettima to visit the area in February. During that visit, he expressed condolences to victims in Nuku and Woro, and reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to restoring peace, announcing the deployment of a Nigerian Army battalion and emergency support through the National Emergency Management Agency alongside the state government.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed that security forces under Operation Savannah Shield had been mobilised. Monday’s explosion, however, has raised fresh concerns over the effectiveness of recent security measures, highlighting the fragile state of peace in the community.
