Normal activities have begun to return to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) following the resumption of duty by workers after a ruling of the National Industrial Court ordering the suspension of the ongoing strike.

The court, presided over by Justice E. D. Subilim, on Tuesday directed that the strike embarked upon by workers under the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) be suspended with immediate effect to allow for continued dialogue between the parties.

In compliance with the ruling, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, urged workers to return to their duty posts, emphasising that while the right to protest is guaranteed in a democratic society, court orders must be obeyed.

Consequently, the Acting Head of the Civil Service of the FCT, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti, issued a circular directing all Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDAs) to reopen and strictly enforce staff attendance registers to ensure full compliance with the court directive.

The circular, dated January 27, 2026, instructed Permanent Secretaries as well as Heads of Departments, Parastatals and Agencies to ensure the immediate resumption of work by employees, while reaffirming the FCTA’s commitment to addressing workers’ welfare concerns.

A visit to the FCTA Secretariat and its affiliated Ministries, Departments and Agencies on Wednesday revealed a significant level of compliance, as workers were seen at their duty posts carrying out routine official activities.
