The Nigerian Army has sustained coordinated offensive operations across the country over the past 24 hours, neutralising terrorists, dismantling camps and rescuing several kidnapped victims in multiple theatres of operation.
A senior military source disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja, noting that the operations cut across the North-West, North-Central and South-West zones.
According to the source, troops of 1 Brigade under Operation FANSAN YAMMA responded swiftly to intelligence at Gidan Baushe village in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where a civilian who sustained gunshot wounds was evacuated for medical treatment.
He added that troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Team carried out a dawn offensive against terrorist hideouts in the Sububu Forest, where several camps and logistics structures were destroyed after troops tracked active motorcycle routes used by the insurgents.
During the operation, the troops reportedly fought through an ambush, dominated the area and recovered military items, including a ballistic helmet, combat boots, woodland camouflage and two Baofeng communication radios.
In Kogi State, under Operation MESA, troops of 12 Brigade rescued six kidnapped victims in separate operations across Yagba East and Yagba West Local Government Areas.
The source said one terrorist was neutralised during a firefight, while rescued victims, some of whom sustained injuries, are responding to treatment. He added that sustained military pressure, including air operations, forced the terrorists to abandon some captives.
In Kwara State, troops of 22 Brigade, in collaboration with personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), raided a notorious terrorist enclave in Ifelodun Local Government Area, where camps, a motorcycle and large quantities of food items were uncovered and destroyed.
Meanwhile, troops of 32 Brigade responded to terrorist attacks on Eleyowo and Ilu Abo communities in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, where two houses were attacked and three civilians reportedly killed.
The troops pursued the attackers, while injured victims were evacuated by community members and local support groups, as security forces continued dominance operations in the affected areas.
In Benue State, under Operation Whirl Stroke, troops laid an ambush along the NakaβAhumeβMakurdi road in Gwer West Local Government Area, neutralising two terrorists and recovering an AK-47 rifle, magazine and ammunition.
The recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and follow-up actions.
The source reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army remains resolute in sustaining pressure on terrorists and criminal elements, with a commitment to denying them freedom of action and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country.
