Military Intensifies Operations to Secure Release of Kurmin Wali Abductees

The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) has reaffirmed its commitment to the safe rescue of residents abducted from Kurmin Wali in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, assuring affected communities that coordinated security operations are ongoing to secure the release of the victims.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Director of Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, acknowledged the growing concerns and anxiety among displaced residents and families of the abductees. He, however, stressed that the rescue of all kidnapped persons remains a top priority for the military and other security agencies.

Onoja dismissed claims that security efforts in the area had waned, explaining that the AFN, in collaboration with sister agencies, is carrying out sustained, intelligence-led operations within Kurmin Wali and neighbouring forested areas suspected to serve as hideouts for the kidnappers.

According to him, the operations combine ground patrols, aerial and technical surveillance, intelligence gathering and carefully targeted engagements designed to locate the perpetrators and rescue the victims without putting their lives at risk.

The military spokesperson noted that while the pace of operations may not always be visible to the public, strategic restraint in certain situations is intentional and aimed at preventing harm to the captives and avoiding unintended casualties.

He further disclosed that efforts are also focused on dismantling the criminal networks responsible for the abductions, adding that security forces are closing in on those behind the attacks.

Reaffirming the AFNโ€™s constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property, Onoja pledged that no effort would be spared in reuniting the Kurmin Wali abductees with their families. He appealed to the public for patience, support and continued cooperation as the operations progress towards a successful conclusion.
