President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday held separate meetings with the Governors of Oyo and Plateau states, Seyi Makinde and Caleb Mutfwang, respectively, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Governor Makinde was the first to arrive at the State House for his meeting with the President, sparking political interest across party lines.
Subsequently, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, also met with President Tinubu. Political observers note that Governor Mutfwang recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while Governor Makinde remains a leading figure within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Although details of the closed-door meetings were not disclosed as at the time of filing this report, the engagements are widely viewed as part of ongoing political consultations and strategic realignments ahead of the next general elections.
The meetings have further fuelled speculations about shifting political alliances and future ambitions within Nigeriaβs evolving political landscape.
