President Bola Tinubu has nominated Ibok‑Ete Ekwe Ibas the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State and ex-Chief of Naval Staff — as a non-career ambassador. Also nominated are former senator Ita Enang, former Imo State first lady Chioma Ohakim, and ex-Interior Minister and former Army Chief Abdulrahman Dambazau.
The fresh list was submitted in a letter read on the Senate floor by Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary. The president urged swift senate action to fill critical diplomatic posts. The nominations have now been referred to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, which has been given one week to complete its screening.
