Murder of Retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu: Delta CP Assures Family of Justice

Delta State Police Command has launched a full investigation into the gruesome murder of retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu, whose lifeless body was discovered in her Asaba residence on November 24, 2025.

According to the police, the Divisional Police Officer of β€˜A’ Division, Asaba, received a complaint from the deceased’s brother, who found her hands, legs, and mouth tied. The DPO immediately led officers to the scene, where the body was evacuated and taken to the mortuary for autopsy.

One suspect, identified as Lucky Matthew, has been arrested in connection with the crime, while the principal suspect, Godwin Vanem, remains at large.

On the orders of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for a discreet and thorough investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that Vanem is strongly suspected to have committed the act before fleeing the apartment.

The Commissioner extended condolences to the bereaved family and assured them that justice will be served.
