Former U.S. President Donald J. Trump has voiced strong concerns over what he describes as an “existential threat” facing Christianity in Nigeria, citing the killing of thousands of Christians allegedly by radical Islamist groups.

Trump, in a public statement, announced that he is designating Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” due to the scale of violence, noting that 3,100 out of 4,476 Christian killings recorded globally occurred in Nigeria.

He disclosed that Congressman Riley Moore, Chairman Tom Cole, and the House Appropriations Committee have been directed to immediately investigate the crisis and furnish him with a report.

According to Trump, the United States “cannot stand by” while such atrocities continue unchecked, warning that America stands ready to defend vulnerable Christian populations globally.

“We must act,” he emphasized, stressing urgency and global attention to the situation.
