The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports claiming it suspended action on the proposed delineation of wards in Warri Federal Constituency, Delta State, following a Supreme Court judgment.

In a statement issued on Monday, September 29, 2025, by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, the Commission clarified that no final decision has been taken on the matter, and the exercise has not been put on hold.

Olumekun noted that a national newspaper had misquoted an INEC official on the issue, creating the impression that the Commission had shelved plans to carry out the Supreme Court’s directive on Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South West Federal Constituency.

He stressed that while the matter remains under consideration, the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) is continuing in all local government areas of the constituency.

INEC also appealed to all parties involved to maintain peace as it continues to address the issue.
