Businessman and politician Tonye Cole has issued a warning over the return of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara after his suspension. Speaking on Channels Televisionβs βThe Morning Briefβ this morning, Cole said that upon resumption, Fubara would effectively have βzero powers.β
Cole expressed that the governor would likely be unable to make decisions independently, being subject to interference. He lamented the potential erosion of democratic governance, comparing Fubaraβs expected return to prior βgodfatherβgodsonβ conflicts where the elected leader is constrained by external powerbrokers.
The APC chieftain also advised Fubara to negotiate with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to delineate which decisions he may make in his capacity as governor, and which decisions may fall under other influence under the peace agreement they had.\r\n
