Delta Government Bans Indecent Dressing in Civil Service

The Delta State Government has rolled out a strict directive on the appearance of civil servants, banning bushy beards, artificial hair, long eyelashes, fake nails, and revealing outfits.

In a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, all workers are required to maintain a neat, professional, and modest look that reflects the dignity of public service. Heads of departments have been instructed to send erring staff home to comply, or face sanctions.

Approved Dress Code

For Male Civil Servants:

GL 13 and above: Complete suits (except uniformed officers).

GL 07โ€“12: Suits or trousers with shirt and tie (Administrative Officers must always wear suits).

GL 01โ€“06: As above, or uniforms for drivers/operators.

Fridays/Special Events: Traditional attire permitted (senator suits, caftans, native shirts with trousers).

Not Allowed: Bushy beards, Resource Control caps, and Papas caps.

For Female Civil Servants:

GL 13 and above: Trouser suits, skirt suits, or corporate gowns below the knee (no hats).

GL 07โ€“12: As above, or gowns/skirts with blouses (must have sleeves; sleeveless/spaghetti straps banned).

The government emphasized that senior officers must lead by example and warned that sanctions will be applied to enforce compliance.\r\n
