Nollywood actress Chita Agwu has announced the dissolution of her 11-year marriage to Johnson Maduabuchi, confirming that a court has legally ended their union.
The actress made the announcement in a statement posted on her Instagram page on Monday, describing the development as the end of a significant chapter in her life.
“After much thought and a journey that has been deeply personal, I wish to officially inform the public that my marriage has been legally dissolved by the court,” she stated.
Agwu said she was embracing a new beginning with peace, grace and dignity, noting that not every marriage ends as expected.
She stressed that people should be allowed to move forward after the end of a relationship without facing judgment, ridicule or public humiliation.
The actress also made it clear that she would not disclose the circumstances surrounding the divorce, citing respect for everyone involved.
“Out of respect for everyone involved, I will not be sharing private details or engaging in public discussions about the circumstances surrounding my divorce,” she said.
She appealed to the public to respect the privacy of both herself and her former husband as they navigate the new phase of their lives.
Expressing appreciation to those who had supported her, Agwu said she was focusing on healing, personal growth and the opportunities ahead.
“My marriage has ended, but my life continues. I move forward with my head held high, my dignity intact, and my heart open to the future,” she added.
The announcement formally marks the end of the couple’s 11-year marriage, with the actress signalling her determination to move forward while keeping the details of their separation private.
