The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has scheduled its third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for Monday, October 26, 2026, in Abuja, where it will unveil its National Campaign Council and present Certificates of Return to its candidates.

The party also disclosed that about 80 per cent of its candidates could not afford the Expression of Interest forms, forcing it to issue the forms to them free of charge.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, said the meeting would hold at JD Event Centre, Kashim Ibrahim Way, opposite A-Class Park, Maitama, Abuja, at 10 a.m.

He explained that a major highlight of the meeting would be the presentation of the party’s statement of account by its National Treasurer, describing the move as part of the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

The NDC challenged other political parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to adopt similar measures in disclosing their financial records.

“For the NDC, it is no longer politics as usual,” the statement declared.

The party attributed its limited financial resources partly to the prevailing economic hardship, which it said had left many of its candidates unable to pay for the Expression of Interest forms.

According to the statement, the party decided to provide the forms free of charge to the affected candidates, contrary to public speculation about its financial position.

The NDC said the meeting would also feature the unveiling of its National Campaign Council, which would comprise campaign structures for the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections.

It added that candidates contesting the various elective positions would receive their Certificates of Return during the event.

The party reaffirmed its readiness to participate actively in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence in its capacity to offer Nigerians what it described as altruistic leadership.

“A New Nigeria is Possible. We can do it!” the statement added.
