The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice Chairman (South-South), Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, describing him as a loyal friend and dependable political associate.
Reacting to Orbih's death in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike said the late politician's passing was a huge loss to Edo State and the PDP.
He described Orbih's death as the "fall of one of the biggest trees in the political forest of Edo State," adding that his contributions to politics and public service would be greatly missed.
The minister said he had lost "a friend indeed" whose loyalty, commitment and friendship were exemplary.
"I have lost a friend and a committed political ally. Dan Osi Orbih was everything anyone could desire in a friend and political associate. But we can't question God. He gives and He takes," Wike said.
He extended his condolences to the Orbih family on behalf of himself, his family and political associates, praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased's soul.
Wike also described the late PDP chieftain as a great politician and a man of strong faith in God.
Chief Daniel Osi Orbih died on Monday, August 31, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Florence Orbih, two daughters, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih, as well as other members of his extended family.
