Mr. George Buchi Nwabueze has published a series of documents which he says support the official status of the Made in Nigeria Project Office, as investigations continue into allegations that a fake government agency operated within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
Among the documents released on LinkedIn is a purported appointment letter dated October 3, 2025, on the OSGF letterhead and signed by the then Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Engr. Nadungu Gagare. The letter appointed Nwabueze as National Coordinator and Executive Director of the Made in Nigeria Project Office for a renewable five-year tenure effective from July 2025, with responsibilities including coordinating programmes, supervising regional and state coordinators, and promoting Nigerian-made goods through exhibitions, trade fairs and economic summits.
Nwabueze also made public a memorandum dated April 17, 2025, also signed by Gagare, proposing that the Made in Nigeria Project be granted Special Project status under the OSGF. The memo recommended the constitution of a five-member technical committee to develop the project's objectives, implementation framework, funding structure and monitoring mechanisms.
In another document titled History and Facts, Made in Nigeria, Nwabueze maintained that the initiative was established on June 15, 2010, and had operated within the OSGF for years, promoting local manufacturing through trade exhibitions, investment forums and advocacy for Nigerian products.
The documents were released days after President Bola Tinubu directed Nwabueze's arrest over allegations linked to the operation of a fake government agency within the OSGF. The President also approved the suspension of three permanent secretaries following findings by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), whose Chairman, Musa Aliyu, said the discovery arose during investigations into the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and other procedural lapses in government.
With the publication of the documents, Nwabueze is seeking to demonstrate that the Made in Nigeria Project was an initiative that had received official consideration within the OSGF. However, the authenticity, legal status and implications of the documents remain subjects of ongoing investigation by the relevant authorities.
