Tamunosoye βSoyeβ Karibi-Georgeβs emergence as Miss World Nigeria 2026 is the culmination of years of dedication, advocacy and steady progress in the world of pageantry.
The 25-year-old communications professional was crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 at the grand finale held at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. The event, organised by the Silverbird Group under the theme βPride, Power and Purpose,β featured 20 contestants from across the country and celebrated beauty, leadership, intelligence and social impact.
With the crown now firmly on her head, Karibi-George is preparing to represent Nigeria at the forthcoming Miss World competition in Vietnam, carrying the hopes of millions of Nigerians eager to see another national contestant achieve global success.
Born on June 29, 2000, to Barrister Karibi George of Buguma in Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State and Mrs. Ebitari Karibi-George of Odi in Bayelsa State, she embodies the rich cultural heritage of both states.
A graduate of Mass Communication from Madonna University, Okija, and an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Karibi-George had already built an impressive profile before her national pageant breakthrough. She is known as a model, actress, singer, voice-over artist, scriptwriter, event host and entrepreneur.
Her pageantry journey gained momentum in December 2023 when she finished as first runner-up in the Miss Port Harcourt City Beauty Pageant, a feat that earned her the title of Face of Port Harcourt City 2023/2024.
During her reign, she launched an environmental advocacy campaign titled βBeautifying the Garden City: A Sustainable Approach to Waste Disposal,β aimed at promoting cleaner surroundings, responsible waste management and environmental awareness among residents and transport operators.
Her success in Port Harcourt opened new opportunities. She was later sponsored to participate in the Miss Africa International pageant in Accra, Ghana, where she emerged victorious in December 2024, securing continental recognition and elevating her profile across Africa.
After completing her reign as Miss Africa International in 2025, Karibi-George set her sights on the Miss World Nigeria crown.
Although she is a Rivers State indigene through her father, organisers of the competition designated her as Miss Bayelsa, enabling her to represent her maternal state during the contest.
Her campaign received strong backing from supporters in Bayelsa, including family members and key stakeholders who rallied support across the state. The endorsement of prominent leaders and organisations further boosted her visibility and strengthened her quest for the crown.
Throughout the competition, she showcased Bayelsaβs culture and traditions, earning praise for her authenticity and commitment to representing the state with pride.
Her eventual victory secured her place as Nigeriaβs official representative at the Miss World pageant.
Beyond beauty contests, Karibi-George has distinguished herself through humanitarian activities and youth-focused initiatives. She has participated in cancer awareness campaigns, educational programmes for girls, talent development projects for children and public health advocacy efforts.
Her current social impact project, the βBeyond Labels Initiative,β focuses on combating stereotypes, promoting inclusion and supporting children with special needs. The initiative seeks to raise awareness and provide support for vulnerable children who often face discrimination and social exclusion.
Karibi-George has consistently maintained that pageantry should be a platform for meaningful change, stressing that true beauty is reflected in service to humanity.
A committed Christian and worship minister, she has also gained recognition for her singing talent, winning several talent segments during pageant competitions.
As she prepares for the Miss World stage in Vietnam, comparisons are already being drawn with former Miss World winner Agbani Darego, whose historic triumph in 2001 remains one of Nigeriaβs greatest achievements in international pageantry.
Having progressed from Face of Port Harcourt City to Miss Africa International and now Miss World Nigeria, Karibi-George stands on the brink of a new chapter, carrying the aspirations of Rivers State, Bayelsa State and the wider Nigerian public as she seeks to make history on the global stage.
