The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured its members that the status of the party's executive committee remains unaffected despite the recent judgment of the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the State Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, the party said it was aware of the appellate court's ruling delivered on May 29, 2026, in an interlocutory appeal filed by the APC and another party against Okwu Joebrown Ndike. The appeal challenged the jurisdiction of the Rivers State High Court as well as the competence of the suit before the lower court.

According to the APC leadership, the Court of Appeal directed that the matter be returned to the court of first instance for a full trial, while issues relating to the earlier order directing parties to maintain the status quo would be determined during the substantive hearing.

The party maintained that there was no threat to the continued existence or status of the current state executive pending the determination of the suit. It added that its legal team would study the full judgment and advise the party on the appropriate next line of action.

The APC also urged its members and supporters to remain calm and disregard what it described as deliberate misrepresentations of the judgment by individuals lacking a proper understanding of the court's decision and proceedings.

The party reaffirmed its confidence in the judicial process and called on faithful to remain united while awaiting the outcome of the substantive trial.
